The Craftsman movement in design during the first three decades of the twentieth century was based on the English Arts and Crafts movement and injected with the spirit of Californian innovation which included Asian details. Charm and cozy are two words to describe the style, pioneered by the Greene brothers whose Gamble house still exists as an icon of the architecture.
